Durian Attraction

Durian at Gopeng, Perak

The durian is a seasonal fruit, unlike some other non-seasonal tropical fruits such as the papaya which are available throughout the year. In peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, the season for durians is typically from June to August, coinciding with that of the mangosteen.

The popular types remain scarce due to a shortage of yield from orchards, leaving plenty of the normal durians to be sold at stalls and shops.

A durian seller who declined to be named, said the amount of kampung durian left unsold at his stall is not unexpected.
